The Supervisor HR Labor and Employee Relations serves as the subject matter expert in campaign avoidance and positive employee relationship management and as champion for the positive employee experience.
This Labor Relations Leadership role supports Modesto and Hughson locations in the US.
You will support efforts to establish and deploy innovative communication initiatives aimed at informing the employee population of company plans, programs and other impactful initiatives, as well as establishing effective two-way communication between employees and leadership, ultimately driving employee commitment and company loyalty as measured by engagement surveys and employee promoter score (EPS).
This key leadership role provides direction and support to management in maintaining positive employee relations in our union-represented environments, as well as being the subject matter expert on employee relations matters by implementing best practice workplace strategies, methods, policies, and processes that enable the enterprise to achieve best-in-class performance and efficiencies in the operation.
You will be responsible for facilitating employee /management grievance procedures.
You could audit internal programs and current practices and make subsequent recommendations based upon findings.
The salary range for this role is:
$62,987 - $103,906.
Responsibilities:
Provides subject matter expertise to employees and leaders in the areas of Labor Relations and engagement strategy.
Works closely with Operations and Human Resources leadership to align with and support efforts to develop high performing highly engaged, diverse workforce in a Union Environment (Primary point of contact for the Union).
Provides management with education concerning Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and third-party representation of employees.
Investigates Labor and employee relations issues and makes appropriate recommendations according to the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), Federal and State employment law, and Del Monte policy, ensuring fair and consistent responses/actions.
Collaborates closely with leadership to execute, implement, and manage Labor Relations activities and ensure they are consistent with the directives, strategy, and policies of the organization.
Evaluates and analyzes trends within the workforce as it pertains to employee satisfaction, commitment, and overall employee satisfaction.
Anticipate and advise stakeholders on the impact that strategic or operational decisions will have upon Labor Relations, employee satisfaction and morale - makes recommendations to drive engagement, employee relations and communication.
Establishes and maintains effective communication programs to ensure the employee population is well informed of impactful changes, strategies, initiatives, etc.

Additional Responsibilities Include:
Maintains Site(s) Seniority list - Modesto and Hughson.
On an annual basis confirm which Employees have failed to work 45 days in two years (CBA compliance) Track and update 30-day seniority tracker for New Hires and/or upon rehire as a returning non-seniority employee(s) Manage the Annual assignments (Guaranteed bracketed pay) based on achieved hours - Modesto and Hughson locations.
Regular Status Tracking - Modesto and Hughson.
Oversees Front office HR Staff to ensure the Employee's ongoing Regular Status tracking is completed timely.
Must also perform the tracking task to be able to manage the process.
This includes the confirmation of Newly eligible Regulars and current Regulars.
Process Benefit reports - Modesto and Hughson.
This includes both Health & Welfare and Pension Reporting Monthly.
Coordinate payment monthly for Regular employees and maintain a 6-month tracker for protection of benefits (currently, an upload to corporate payroll) once an EE is qualified, as defined in the CBA.
Also coordinate payment summer for Seasonals (currently, an upload to corporate payroll) once a co-contribution is required in the CBA.
Manage and oversee to ensure Group Life deductions are processed and balances updated.
Serve as key contact for auditors.
Participates in audits.
Provide Philippines AP team with monthly accrual information for Vacation and Sabbatical outstanding liabilities.
Investigate and settle Union grievances in conjunction with HR and Operations leadership.
Calculate and Submit grievance settlement pay to local payroll department.
Process Pay adjustment twice a year.
(End of December/June) for Red - circled Packaging Operators per CBA agreement Manage Union Job bid Process and Awards by coordinating with Scheduling and management team to determine the number of openings.
Posting internally and assessing whether an External posting will be needed.
Maintain Union Job Descriptions Maintains and oversees that local HR team updates HR systems with union status to ensure monthly dues are deducted.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, industrial relations, human resources or similar strongly preferred.
Union Experience will count as equivalent to Degree preference.
HS Diploma Required Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in employee relations, HR and/or labor relations in union environments, required.
Minimum 7 years of experience creating, managing, and executing a campaign strategy, while being agile where needed to make changes based on location and business factors, required.
Minimum of 3 years of experience influencing, guiding, and training field leaders on effective communication and presentation of current employee culture and Union Contract interpretation required.
Ability to conduct persuasive conversations with frontline employees required.
Travel - up to 10%Understands basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and process execution.
