Summary:
Howard Prep (HP) works with adults with disabilities teaching job skills with the goal of participants (consumers) obtaining jobs with local employers.
Staff will provide training and support to participants working independently at various work sites or working in a community-based enclave site.
Areas of emphasis are on behavior modification, work skills, mobility, time management, and social interaction skills training.
Essential Job Functions:
Provide required training, supervision/monitoring, and support to assigned participants.
This includes but is not limited to; organize and maintain assigned training areas; assuring quality control of assigned contracts.
Will work hand to hand with participants to ensure that he/she is successful at the workplace.
Advocate for participants, consult with employees, case managers, care providers and Howard Prep staff on participant issues and instruct participants on all safety/health procedures.
Learn about specific job requirements and duties by spending as much time as necessary at the job site.
Prepares detailed job and task analyses Ensures success of the placement by providing advocacy at the work site or community and monitors the consumer's performance and progress.
Begins fading as the consumer becomes more proficient and requires less job coach intervention.
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and must be able to work weekends and holidays.
May be required to drive personal or agency vehicles and transport goods and/or participants.
Complete documentation, participant payroll time sheets, attendance records, program hours, and other data as assigned.
Makes purchases and delivers product as necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned by program manager.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent and Two years successful work experience in production or service industry, or rehabilitation setting (Preferred).
Fluency in English (Read and Write), Spanish desired.
Experience in a fast paced and demanding environment.
Be able to work on diverse weather conditions and ability to work in various job sites.
Able to work weekends and holidays.
At all times conduct one-self in a professional manner, cooperate with staff and management, assist when the need presents itself.
Manage time efficiently and in a productive manner.
Must demonstrate the ability to; exercise sound judgment and tact, effectively communicate with participants' families, care providers, case managers, co-workers, and others.
Knowledge of Behavior Management Techniques, as well as procedures relating to hygiene, sanitation, blood borne pathogens, and universal precautions are helpful.
Maintain a safe, harassment and discrimination free, efficient instructional environment for staff, participants, volunteers, and visitors.
Responsible for compliance with Board policy and procedures, department procedures, Howard Prep's Fleet Manual, Mandated Reporting Policy and Procedures, applicable Department of Labor regulations, CARF, all local, state, and federal regulatory rules and standards.
Supports the agency mission and positively represents the agency.
Maintain positive communication with peers, supervisors, participants, families, funding sources, and the community.
Maintain a professional and confidential manner in performance of duties with staff, participants, and the community.
Maintain confidentiality of participants and families as required by law.
Essential duties require the ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time; sit, stoop, bend, reach, push, and pull; exercise manual dexterity and strength to grab, grasp, hold, and handle items of various sizes; climb steps/stairs; read, write, speak, see, and hear sufficiently to provide required services, and supervision and protection of participants.
Able to lift, transfer, and move over 50 lbs.

Must have reliable transportation, possession of a valid California driver's license, and minimum vehicle insurance as required by law, or the ability for independent transportation.
Must be insurable by the Agency's auto insurance provider.
Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and alcohol/drug screen in accordance with Drug-Free Workplace Policy.
Must obtain and maintain required criminal record and health clearances and valid First Aid and Adult CPR certifications.
Must be able to perform essential functions of positions as identified in job description.
Able to comply with prompt and reasonable attendance guidelines established by Howard Prep policy.
The Agency retains the right to change or assign different hours, and additional duties to this position.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
